The Kobo online interactive marketplace goes well beyond classified ads. Its components allow any digital or physical goods to be bought and sold with a high degree of confidence because the optional Karma identity manager dynamically manages scores each transactor’s reputation and history.
Free tryout of managed service
Because Kobo technology is centralized (yet highly configurable), sites can try the technology free within moments of signing up. Potential customers can actually run a production site at no charge during the tryout period. No features are disabled other than merchant account features. PayPal users can get full use of the merchant account feature by supplying their login.
Administrative interface made for real people
Admin interfaces are notoriously difficult to use. The Kobo admin interface is meant to be mastered with as little training as possible, and the goal was to make it as easy to use as the classified manager is for end users. While that goal admittedly has not been reached in every detail, it has been the guiding principle and has clarified a number of internal operations, streamlining documentation as well.
Electronic payment integration
- Merchant accounts handle all major credit cards using PayPal, Authorize.net, and Cybersource
- Amounts are demoninated in US dollars internally but many currencies can be supported
- Amounts both above and below $.01 can also be handled using the BidPoints/Paybits micropayment transaction format. This makes micropayments a practical reality
